WE WOULD LIKE to welcome the Reverend Jay M. Hanke as he comes to help us during Rev. Hewitt’s renewal leave. Jay will be serving us during the months of January and February. We appreciate his willingness to take a break from retirement to help Jim get the time he needs for  recovery and reflection.  Please keep Jim and his family in your prayers.

ALL FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADERS will be actors in the youth play on Sunday morning, January 4 at all three services (no Sunday School for the fourth and fifth graders). The play is entitled “The Secret of the Gifts".

COME TO THE Fellowship Supper on Monday, January 5 at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Menu: garden salad, oven fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, hot rolls, creamy fruit cup and brownies. A freewill offering will be received.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, thank you Braddock Street! Your overwhelming response to the Christmas Basket Project this year allowed us to not only deliver 33 food baskets with poinsettias to needy families but to make donations to the Lord Fairfax Food Bank and C-Cap as well. It’s wonderful to see such generosity in this tough economy. What a caring congregation we have. Well done!

THE 2009 FLOWER CALENDAR is up in the Education Building, just outside the church office above the water fountain. If you would like to sign up for a Sunday in honor or in memory of a loved one you may either sign up on the calendar or call Hazel Mason. The dates of January 11 and 18 are currently available.

THERE WILL BE  a memorial service for Danny Kellas on January 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the BSUMC Sanctuary.

THE VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE Wesleyan Singers will be giving a concert  here on Friday, January 16 at 7:30 p.m. Rachel Gordon, Jerry and Delores Gordon’s daughter, is part of this group. Housing is needed for the singers, so please contact Judy Connelly if you have room for one or more. Thanks!
